Our mission is to serve stray, abandoned, orphaned, abused and injured companion animals by providing medical care and shelter in times of need, locating lifelong homes, and promoting responsible pet guardianship through education, legislation and sterilization.
As a No-Kill Shelter, every animal that comes to us stays with us until we find it a loving adoptive home. Tuffy
My name is Tuffy and I have a very sad story. I was found as a stray not old enough to be on my own. And if that wasn't bad enough, I was born with a disability which made life even harder for me. The folks from ARL took me in and made sure I was fed, I was safe and I was loved. As I got few weeks older, they noticed a problem with my eyes
.
At first they thought it was entropia a condition in which your eyelashes grow down instead of up. But they took me to an eye specialist and it was determined that I have a very rare condition in which I have no eyelids. I can see, but the light is painful to my eyes. If not treated, I will go blind. There is surgery available and that is the next step. It will cost approximately $1500 for the surgery alone and we are hoping to have sponsors/donors who will help us cover the cost. Why would we spend this type of money ? Because for us, it's not only about rescuing, it's also about providing quality of life. Tuffy is now 4 months old (6 18 08) and must be 6 months before the surgery can be performed.
If you are interested in helping Tuffy, please call us at 877 5002 or e-mail us at info@arlep.org. If you'd like to help with her medical expenses you can go to our secure donation site at www.arlep.org, or you can mail a check to ARL, Box 13055, El Paso, TX. Please note on your donation that it is for Tuffy. We would be very grateful for any help you could provide. Tuffy will be up for adoption by application only. If you are interested in adopting her, please call or e-mail us for an adoption application.
My adoption fee is $125 which includes my spay/neuter, my feline leukemia testing, age appropriate vaccinations, collar and microchip/registration fee. I must be an indoor cat only. Adopt me today and find a friend for life! And remember that adopting a pet is a life long commitment.
| We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our shelter because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here. |

June is adopt a shelter cat month and it's all the beginning of kitten season. Each year ARL rescues approximately 200 kittens. Many are too small to be without their mother and must be bottlefed 24 hours a day to stay alive. Many are so undernourIshed that they are sick. Many have been infected with ringworm and other ailments and must be treated. Until they are health and old enough to be adopted, they are housed in our kitten room. So once again we're proud to announce we're expecting kittens and are hosting a month long shower ! The following items are requested: Pedialyte - Unflavored, KMR Liquid or Powder, Baby Bottles for Kitten, Clay Litter, Authority canned Kitten Food, Warm Beds; Small Blankets, Crates and Carriers, PetSmart Gift Card. Or you can make a cash donation using our secure donation site at www.arlep.org or send a check to ARL - Box 13055 - El Paso, TX 79913. Please make note that it is for the kitten shower. If you have any questions, just drop us a note at info@arlep.org and we'll get right back to you. And as always, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT. We couldn't do it without you.
